Harry "Red" Werry | Visit Guest Book Werry, Harry 'Red' 90 June 05, 1921 Jan. 12, 2012 Harry "Red" Werry, a resident of Gresham, died on January 12 in Portland. He was 90 years of age. Harry was born June 5, 1921, in Carey, Idaho, to Joseph and Dorothy Werry. He graduated from Boise High School in 1939 and went on to serve his country in the Army. He served during World War II in Europe, in a Signal Pigeon Company. Harry married Gladys Bone in Preston, Idaho, on Feb. 7, 1943. They were married for 59 years until Gladys' death in 2002. He was an independent man and enjoyed time with his family rather than others. He particularly enjoyed spending weekends at his beach house in Otis with his wife. Though he was a loner, he made lifelong friends while in the Army and stayed in touch throughout his life. Harry was a quiet and gentle person who never spoke in anger to a friend or stranger. Harry is survived by his daughter, Sheila Roth of Happy Valley; grandson, Jason Roth of Vancouver, Wash., and three great-grandchildren. No services will be held, but if you wish to leave the family a message, please visit www.batemancarrollfunerals.com. Arrangements by Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. Donations can be made to Snocap in Harry's name. |
