Andrew Michael "Mike" Stauth
1923 - 2016

Stauth, Andrew Michael (Mike)
was born in Dodge City, Kansas August 2, 1923, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Powers Stauth, tenth of eleven children. Graduating from Dodge City High School, he was attending business college in Hutchinson, Kansas when Pearl Harbor was attacked, which determined his next phase of life. On June 30, 1943 he married Helen L. Swafford. He had enlisted in the Army Air Force with his brother Larry and flew 50 B-24 missions from the Army Air Force base in Foggia, Italy. During his military service his first child, Randy Michael Stauth, was born. Mike was invited to enter officer training school but instead left the service when his father needed help on the farm, and he returned with his family to Dodge City, Kansas. There his other two children, Linda Kay Stauth and Brent Eric Stauth, were born. He became a successful business man and community leader before retiring in his seventies and moving with Helen to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1994. He died peacefully at home on January 24, 2016 after hospitalization earlier in the month. He is survived by Helen, his wife of more than 72 years and "sweetheart" to the end, his children, four grandchildren (Heather Johnson, Michelle Hoben, Darren Stauth, Andrew Stauth), and numerous great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held this Saturday, January 30, at 11 a.m., at Messenger's Mortuary Chapel, 7601 East Indian School Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251.
