Liberty Ships, SS Carole Lombard

 Mr. Parker, 87, served from 1943 to 1946. He was a gunner on Liberty Ships, including the SS Carole Lombard, that supplied troops throughout the Pacific Theater of Operations.

After the war, Mr. Parker worked for many years as a warehouse foreman for Bingham-Willamette in Portland then retired from Burns Brothers parts department. He loved baseball and was a little league umpire for many years. He was also an avid golfer.

Parker, Frank 87 April 12, 1925 Dec. 28, 2012 Frank Parker passed away peacefully in his sleep on Dec. 28, 2012 at age 87. He was born April 12, 1925 in Portland. A graduate of Gresham High School, he enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served on Liberty Ships during WWII. In 1948, he married his longtime love, Frances Feldman. They settled in Milwaukie, where they shared 59 years of wedded bliss until her passing in 2007. Frank spent his professional life working for Francis Brothers Feed, Bingham-Willamette and Burns Brothers as a warehouse foreman. Survivors include son, Jeff; daughters, Jenny and Lisa; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Frank's home.
