Fazzolari, Antonio 'Tony' 90 Nov. 10, 1925 Jan. 20, 2016 Antonio Tony Fazzolari, 90, of Portland, was called up to the big leagues in heaven Jan. 20, 2016, after returning home from a lunch with his senior softball team. Born Nov. 10, 1925, to Italian immigrants, Salvatore and Mary Fazzolari in Portland, he was the middle child of the five brothers, all well known in the Portland Sports Arena, Jimmy, Joe, Nick, Carlo and sister, Rose. He married Ethel Fazzolari in 1947 and had four children. He later married Nancy McCormick in 1996. Tony grew up in South Portland and enjoyed boxing, basketball, football and baseball. He attended Benson High School and was a four-year letterman in football and baseball, and was the captain of both. During his senior year, he was drafted into the U.S. Navy, leaving behind a four-year athletic scholarship to Oregon State University, to serve his country on the U.S.S. PC-820, fishing off the deck in Adak, Alaska, coming home to fish off the banks of the Columbia River for salmon. Up to last year he was stomping up clam holes in Seaside. He loved razor clams! Tony sold The Oregonian as a young boy and worked in the Portland shipyards building Navy PC boats while in high school. He later worked and retired from United Beer Distributors. There was never a more loving Italian dad, grandpa, uncle and brother. Family was everything. He was his daughters first love. He was always there for his children and grandkids. He never missed their activities and coached his son and grandsons baseball teams, everyone adoring The Legend he was. He leaves his wife, Nancy; daughters, Judy Fralia-Mantello (Denny), Susie Fazzolari and Tammy Wallace (Chip); grandchildren, Heather Borgens (Ryan), Gabe Fralia, Shane Schefter, Ali Wallace and Bridgette Wallace; great-grand- children, Reece Martin, Adrena Fralia and Ava Borgens; brother, Carlo; sister, Rose Cruickshank; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Terry; and brothers, Jimmy, Joe and Nick. A viewing will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Mt. Scott Funeral Home, 4205 S.E. 59th Ave., Portland. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 7525 S.E. Cesar Chavez Blvd., (corner of 39th Avenue and Flavel Street), Portland. A burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, in Willamette National Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the , Oregon Humane Society or .
