 Robert “Bob” E. Thompson

Bob was a native of Portland. As a veteran of the US Marine Corps., he achieved the highest rank of Lance Corporal. He entered the service in December, 1961 and received an honorable discharge in December, 1967. After the Marine Corps., Bob went to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad where he was Y-Foreman. As an active member of AA for over 32 years, he helped and supported many people who became life long friends. A passion of his was spending time repairing, rebuilding classic cars. With his love for cars, he was an active member of the Studebaker Club. He is survived by his friend and long-term caregiver, Jean, and his sister, Rena, who resides in Portland, Oregon as well as three nieces and two nephews.

Bob will be remembered with military honors at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, in Willamette National Cemetery. Anyone attending should sign in at the cemetery office by 1:00 p.m. to join the procession. Please identify: “Thompson Service.”

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Parkrose Deliverance Tabernacle.
