Quinncy Newstrand, 27, passed away on January 30th, 2026, at 8:37 a.m. He was born on February 15th, 1998, in Silverton, Oregon, at 8:15 a.m. weighing 4 pounds 1.5 ounces. He spent his first month in the NICU, beginning his life with the strength and resilience that would define him.
Quinncy grew up in Central Oregon and graduated from Crook County High School in 2017. He entered into the military June 17, 2017 in Fort Benning, Georgia as a 198th Infantry Brigade. He later lived in Arlington, Virginia serving at Fort Myer as a member of The Old Guard Alpha Company 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, before settling in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he spent more than two years serving as a 11B infantry man in Fort Bragg.
A proud and dedicated soldier, Quinncy served in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant in 11B Infantryman. Throughout his service, he earned numerous awards, including the Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, two Army Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Expert Infantry Badge, the Combat and Special Skill Badge and Basic Marksmanship Qualification Badge. His leadership, discipline, and commitment to his fellow soldiers left a lasting impact on all who served with him.
Outside of his military career, Quinncy was admired for his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, and exploring nature whenever he could. Physical fitness was an important part of his life, and he often encouraged others in their own health and wellness goals. In quieter moments, he enjoyed gaming and spending time with friends. Quinncy was deeply loved and respected by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Asta Newstrand (Perry Hall, MD); his mother, Angelia Roe, and stepfather, Jeffery Roe (Prineville, OR); his father, Dereck Newstrand (Roseburg, OR); his siblings Natosha Frandsen (Newstrand) (Bend, OR), Maddison Dennis (Grants Pass) , Ash (Shahali) Roe (Bend, OR), Dereck Newstrand Jr. and Justice Newstrand; his nephews Rex, Lazarius, and Paladyn Frandsen (Bend, OR); and his nieces Savanna Chavez (Grants Pass) and Embyr Roe (Bend, OR).
Funeral services will be held on March 6th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Deschutes Memorial Chapel and Gardens in Bend, Oregon. A reception will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Westside Church in Bend. Arrangements are entrusted to Deschutes Memorial Chapel and Garden.
Quinncy's legacy of strength, existence, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him. |
