 Ddied in a crash at Dillant-Hopkins airport on January 13, 2005. The whole east coast was fogged in that night. On approach to a second airport with 100ft ceiling and fog, the right engine of the EMB-110 went out and the plane rolled when he tried to go around. 

After serving in the United States Navy, Doug went on to fly airplanes. He flew with me in Alaska, and later tried to get me a job with him in Maine. He was always trying to help people, a true sailor. On the night he died he had waited a hour at the departure airport for one of his customers to bring a package when he didn't have to.
