News release from the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office:

On August 13th, 2021 Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Oregon State Police responded to a report of an ATV accident that had occurred in the area of Jordan Circle Lane and Meacham Lake, near Meacham, Oregon. At about 2:40pm, Umatilla County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting two people had been injured in an ATV accident.

Pendleton Fire Department ambulance and Umatilla Tribal Fire Department ambulance responded. Medics on scene confirmed the operator of the ATV was deceased, Cesar Ambriz, a 20 year old male from Hermiston, Oregon. A 13 year old juvenile passenger was transported by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Pendleton.

The ATV was traveling on gravel when it went off the roadway and rolled while operating a turn. Family members have been notified and the body was released to Pendleton Pioneer Chapel.
