Bertrams enlisted in US Army on 11 JUN 1953 and served in the Korean theater for 17 months and 19 days. Bertrams was honorably discharged on 28 APR 1955 and subsequently was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, United Nation’s Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. |

| BERTRAMS VOLDEMARS KEIRE October 17, 1932 ~ November 23, 2015 Bertrams V. Keire of Vancouver, Washington passed away on November 23rd, 2015. -- Born in Riga, Latvija on October 17th, 1932, he came to America during his teen years and earned his citizenship by serving in the Korean War. Bert received his Bachelor and Masters from Central Washington University in Education of Political Science. A dedicated teacher of 34 years for the Vancouver School District at Hudson's Bay High School, he retired as a respected educator. Bert was a devout teacher who loved family time and the outdoors. A Celebration of Life will take place April 30th, 2016 at Hudson's Bay High School, 1601 E. McLoughlin Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98663 at 1:15p.m. to 2:45p.m. There will be full military honors at Park Hill Cemetery following the service. Published in The Columbian on Apr. 24, 2016 |
