Obituary
Fazzolari, Nicodemo 'Nick' 87 June 19, 1927 April 09, 2015 Nick passed away peac- efully in his home surr- ounded by family members after courageously fighting various ailments. He was born in Portland to Salvatore and Mary Fazzolari. He was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. Sports played a major role in his life and he was active in senior softball into his late 70s until he suffered a stroke. He was an avid Yankees, Notre Dame and Ducks fan. On June 18, 1949, Nick married his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara. They settled in Southwest Portland and raised three children. Nick loved his family and country as well as his Italian heritage. Nick was preceded in death by his parents; son, David; and brothers, Jim and Joe. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Nick and Margaret; grandchildren, Shannon, Rebecca and David; brothers, Tony and Carlo; sister, Rose Cruickshank; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be held at noon, with a viewing at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Holy Family Church, located at S.E. 39th and Flavel streets. A burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, in Willamette National Cemetery. A reception will be held at Nick's home following the Mass.
